The Yakovlev
Yak-41, also known as the Yak-141, is a Soviet supersonic vertical takeoff/landing
(VTOL) fighter aircraft used for testing. The Yak-141 made its first take-off flight on 9 March 1987 and then its first vertical take-off on 29 December 1989. The second prototype will be severely damaged on 5 October 1991 during a landing on the aircraft carrier Admiral Gorchkov. After the fall of the Soviet Union, the Russian Federation suspended the program for lack of funds. |
