First HD.2 were delivred in October 1917 to Centre d'Aviation Maritime (CAM) based in Dunkerque. The main task of the unit, was escort of the FBA and Donnet-Denhaut flying boats on their anti-submarine sorties. DH.2 was used after the war for testing the use of aircraft from warships.
