Weight was reduced. Fixed wing slats. Revised armament. New outer wing. More fuel tanks. Late models were able to carry drop tanks.

A lightened LaGG-3 with improved performance and improved rear vision with cut down rear decking, overtaken by newer aircraft such as the La-5. The aircraft equipped with M-105PF-2 engine. It passed state tests from 10th May to 12th June 1944.
A single LaGG-1 fitted with the 1540 hp Shvetsov M-82 14-cylinder radial air-cooled engine and propeller from a Sukhoi Su-2
