Other Medium Tanks

Le terme est galvaudé, il ne signifie quasi rien. En effet le seuls véritables chars moyens construits en Grande-Bretagne furent les Vickers Medium Tanks Mark I et Mark II, en petites quantités, qui étaient déjà obsolète à l'aube du conflit. Par après plus un seul modèle ne fut développé. Les seuls chars moyens utilisés par les Britanniques durant la deuxième guerre mondiale furent les M3 Lee et M4 Sherman américains (parfois modifiés). En fait cette catégorie fut abandonné au profit de deux nouvelles catégories, les chars croiseurs (chars d'exploitation rapides) et les chars d'infanterie (chars de percée et d'appui rapproché de l'infanterie), dont les modèles furent produits par milliers. Les chars renseignés sur cette page sont les modèles qui ont précédés les chars moyens Mk.I et Mark II de Vickers.

The term is faulse, it does not mean quasi anything. Indeed the only genuine medium tanks built in Great Britain were Vickers Vickers Medium Tanks Mark I and Mark II in small quantities, which were already obsolete at the dawn of the conflict. By after none model was not developed. The only medium tanks used by the British during the Second World War were American M3 Lee and M4 Sherman (sometimes modified). In fact this category was abandoned to the profit of two new categories, the cruisers tanks (fast tanks of exploitation) and the infantry tanks (tanks of breakthrough and close support for the infantry), whose models were produced per thousands. A7 Medium Tank Series

Ces chars sont avant tout des véhicules de développement comme les prototypes A6, destinés à concevoir une nouvelle génération de blindés pour le royal Tank Corps. Ces prototypes furent testés en 1931 mais furent finalement déclarés obsolètes en 1936. Ils souffraient également de problèmes mécaniques.

These tanks are above all vehicles of development like the A6 prototypes, intended to conceive a new generation of armoured tanks for Royal Tank Corps. These prototypes were tested in 1931 but were finally declared obsolete in 1936. They also suffered from mechanical problems.

Medium Tank Mark C

En 1926, Vickers conçoit un modèle de char moyen destiné à l'exportation. Les prototypes de ce char furent vendus à L'Irlande et au Japon. Il inspira fortement le Medium Tank Type 89 nippon. Il avait un équipage de 5 hommes, un blindage de 5-6 mm et pesait 11.5 tonnes. Il était propulsé par une moteur 6 cylindres Sunbeam développant 132 ch qui lui permettait une vitesse maximum de 20 km/h, et était armé d'un canon de 6-pdr (57 mm) et 4 mitrailleuses Vickers .303 (7.7 mm).

In 1926, Vickers develop a model of medium tank intended for export. The prototypes of this tank were sold in Ireland and Japan. It strongly inspired Japanese Medium Tank Type 89. It had a crew of 5 men, a shielding of 5-6 mm and weighed 11.5 tons. It was propelled by a six-cylinder motor Sunbeam developing 132 hp which allowed it a maximum speed of 20 km/h, and was armed with a gun with 6-pdr (57 mm) and 4 machine-guns Vickers .303 (7.7 mm).
