Variants
Used a Nakajima Ha-25 radial engine (925 HP).
Had fixed pitch wooden two bladed propeller. Later models had a two pitch propeller installed. To improve maneuverability combat flaps were installed.
Had 2: 7.7 mm machine guns in wings.
Army Type 1 Fighter Model 1A: Had two 7.7 mm machine guns in upper cowling.
Army Type 1 Fighter Model 1B: Had 1: 7.7 mm / 7.7 mm Type 89 and 1: 12.7 mm / 12.7 mm Type 1 machine guns.
Army Type 1 Fighter Model 1C: Had two 12.7 mm Type 1 machine guns.
