I.A.R. 80s remained in service until 1949. Those airframes with the lowest hours were modified by removing a fuel tank in front of the cockpit and adding a second seat, resulting in a trainer designated the I.A.R. 80DC. These were used for only a short time before being replaced by Yak-11s and Yak-18s in late 1952.
