Tthe Hispano-Suiza 12Y-31 engine was changed to a 12Y-77, of the same power, built under license by Adolph Saurer AG.
The Swiss replaced the drum-fed machine guns with Waffenfakrik model 1929 band-fed machine guns (the 20 mm gun was a FM-K 38 Wafenfabrik)

I n 1943, the D-3800 still in service were modified to approach the standard D-3801, without however losing their original designation.
