Original test-bed for the 76 mm Gun T1. It's a M4A1 (early production model).
The white band on the gun shows the difference in length between the 75 mm gun et the new 76 mm gun.

The M4A1 (76M1) was made in a dozen copies for operational trials at Camp Young in California, with the Desert Warfare Board. The counterweight of the 76mm gun is fully integrated into the turret. It is however that the former 75mm turret is a cramped trio for this new gun.
