Variants
Version armed with a second ShVAK gun instead of the machine gun. Was quickly replaced by other versions armed with larger caliber guns.
High altitude version. Version equipped with a Klimov M-105PD engine and designed in 1943 to intercept Ju-86Rs. The unreliable engine produced poor performance and was replaced by a water-injected Klimov M-106PV. The armament was reduced to a single ShVAK to save weight. It reached the altitude of 13500 meters during the tests.
